LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - They did everything they could to stop a massive fire. Today the community took time to thank firefighters for their efforts during last weekend's fire at the BlueGrass Stockyards. Firefighter Appreciation Day comes six days after the fire destroyed the stockyards and several nearby businesses. Hundreds of firefighters were called in to battle the flames.
